Tagen Marshall is the founder and voice behind Overcoming Chronicles.
Blending real-world storytelling with practical, people-first tools, Tagen empowers
audiences to face challenges, lean on the right support, and grow into a stronger
sense of self. Through honest reflection and actionable frameworks, Tagen helps
individuals and teams move from adversity to clarity, connection, and confidence.
Being born with cerebral palsy, spastic quadriplegia, Tagen has lived
a life marked by adversity. Yet it is both because of and in spite of
these circumstances that Tagen has become who he is today.
From the beginning of his education, he found a love for storytelling
through classroom experiences and security through the support of
special education teachers and assistants.
Relationships were formed and lost as Tagen was in the foster care
system from age 12 to 19, thus shaping his sense of purpose.
Now, as he prepares to graduate university with an honours degree in
philosophy and hopes to pursue a master’s, Tagen looks forward to
sharing how that adversity, his support network, and his purpose
through his story and the stories he hopes to create can help you
in your own life.
As you face challenges, address adversities, and come to a deeper
sense of self, his journey is one he hopes will inspire and empower yours.

I had the incredible opportunity to work with Tagen on a video project highlighting accessibility challenges and improvements at Vancouver Island University. Tagen’s words were not only informed and intelligent, but also incredibly moving and emotional.
In all my years of conducting interviews, I've never spoken to anyone like him. The authenticity of his experiences brings a unique and powerful perspective, making his words not just heard but felt. His exceptional storytelling and unique perspective make him an inspiring and transformative speaker. He is both thoughtful and kind, and I hope he has the opportunity to share his gifts with the world more often.

I have had the privilege of knowing Tagen for the past 9 years. Tagen was in Grade 11 and 16 years of age when he contacted me to learn how to stop sexual exploitation and sex trafficking. A girl from Tagen's youth group had been sexualized by an older man and murdered.
Tagen was deeply troubled by this event and wanted to help stop the predation of youth, children and the vulnerable. We spent the year meeting weekly on Facetime to discuss the crime, issue and how to solve it.
At the end of his school year I gave him the assignment to present to his class, his school and to the local City Council. He did so, then took the initiative to present to an additional City Council.
The local newspaper interviewed him, and a local television show featured Tagen and his advocacy work.
Tagen proved his innate ability to communicate effectively and passionately. Tagen loves to hear stories, tell the stories, and to build relationships in doing so.
He is personable and funny; focused and hopeful. His disability has opened many doors for him, particularly to tell his own story. Tagen is succeeding with his university studies and proving himself capable, knowledgeable, teachable and thoughtful. He tackles every assignment and situation with enthusiasm and positivity.
Frankly, Tagen is an inspiration. Tagen has been presenting with me at global summits and impresses his audiences. He is engaging. The importance of sharing our voice and our life is significant. It takes courage to do so.
Tagen shows us how to do this.
Thank you, Tagen Marshall.
